Magical Spring Borghetto

I didn’t expect to fall in love with a village — but Borghetto sul Mincio stole my heart the moment I arrived.
It was a soft spring morning, the kind where the air feels like a warm whisper. The cobbled streets were quiet, lined with stone houses draped in wisteria. The sound of water was everywhere — from the Mincio River flowing gently beneath ancient bridges to the old watermills still turning with timeless grace.
I wandered aimlessly at first, crossing the Visconteo Bridge, watching reflections ripple beneath it. Locals greeted each other with slow smiles. There was no rush here. Just the rhythm of a place that knew how to rest.
After a lunch of handmade tortellini at a riverside trattoria, I rented a bike and cycled the Mincio path to Parco Sigurtà. Tulips danced in the breeze, and for a moment, I forgot everything else.
Back in Borghetto, the day ended with gelato in hand, feet dangling by the water. The sunset painted the stone walls gold. It felt like time had stopped — just for a little while — and let me breathe.
