In Europe there are several parks called Stanley Park—they aren’t copies of Vancouver’s, but they share the idea of big green spaces for recreation, relaxation, and community. Two of the most well‑known are in Blackpool and Liverpool, England.
Located in Blackpool, Lancashire, England.
Size: ~104 hectares (256 acres).
Designed in the 1920s by Thomas Mawson. Opened in 1926.
Grade II* listed in the Register of Historic Parks & Gardens of special historic interest in England.
Italian Gardens, Rose Gardens, large boating lake.
Art Deco café, clock tower, bandstand, model village, golf course, tennis courts, playgrounds, boating lake.
Sports facilities (bowling greens, tennis courts, pitch & putt, mini golf etc.).
Strengths for Older Visitors:
Many flat / gently sloping paths — easier walking.
Plenty of benches, garden areas, places to rest.
Café and park amenities help for comfort.
