Early morning, St. Peter's Basilica is quiet with few tourists,
and the morning light filters into the interior, creating a mystical atmosphere.
The choir's voices sometimes echo, allowing you to experience the basilica in its truest form.

⛪ Some areas may be restricted during Mass (worship services), so check at the entrance!

🎟️ Tickets and Admission
• Admission to the main cathedral is free
• Admission to the cupola (dome) is free
• Elevator: Approximately 10 euros
• Stairs: Approximately 8 euros

💡 Recommended Route:
Climbing the cupola first as soon as it opens will help you avoid the pre-day crowds.
The view of St. Peter's Square from above is truly spectacular.

The final section leads up to a narrow spiral staircase, so comfortable clothing and shoes are recommended.

👕 Dress Code (Clothing Guidelines)

The cathedral is a religious facility, so revealing clothing is prohibited.
• Avoid clothing that exposes shoulders or knees.
• Bring a light scarf or cardigan, even in summer.
• It is considered good etiquette to remove your hat upon entry.

Please note that dress code inspections are conducted at the entrance. I brought a light cardigan with me. 👚

📷 Best Photo Spots
• Top of the Cupola: A prime seat with a panoramic view of Vatican City and the square.
• Main Altar Baldachin (by Bernini): The best time to visit is in the morning when the light pours in.
• Interior of the dome at the main entrance: The golden mosaics on the ceiling are at their most dazzling around 9:00 AM.

📸 Important Note:
Please refrain from taking photos during mass. Tripods and selfie sticks are not permitted.

🏛️ 3 Must-See Spots
1. Pieta (by Michelangelo)
To the right of the entrance. Smaller than you might imagine, but quietly moving.
2. Bernini's Great Baldachin
Approximately 30 meters tall. The golden decorations are magnificent when illuminated by light.
3. Cupola Ceiling Decoration
Looking up as you ascend is a must-see moment, as the golden decorations and blue mosaics intersect.

💡 Other Practical Tips
• There is an airport-style security check before entering (liquids and sharp objects are prohibited).
• Restrooms are located to the right of the entrance and near the entrance to the Cupola.
• Baggage check available (backpacks and large bags are accepted).
• Audio guide terminals available (fee required): Japanese language support available.

✨ Summary: Tips for a Comfortable Experience
• Enter early in the morning, between 7 and 8 AM.
