For Reference
I arrived in Venice from Mentoré Station to Santa Lucia Station around noon. After getting off the train, I walked to St. Mark's Square and took the water bus. I walked there, taking in the cityscape. (About 2 kilometers.) There are restaurants along the way, but there are plenty near the square, so I refrained from walking.
On the way to St. Mark's Square, I passed the Rialto Bridge, and the view from there is the best.
On the way to the square, I stopped off at a restaurant I wanted to try, so I had squid ink pasta (all-you-can-eat bread). After eating, I headed to St. Mark's Square. The surrounding area is home to temples, stylish buildings, and shopping.
From there, I went to a popular gelato shop, then took a different route back to the station, looking around and buying souvenirs on the way back, and around 5pm I took the train from Santa Lucia back to Mentre Station.
This was a day trip. (If you're planning on taking the water bus, boat rides, and visiting the temples, I think it would be better to stay overnight so you can enjoy sightseeing at a leisurely pace. But I still managed to enjoy it even on a day trip.
