🖼️ Venice’s Gateway to Asian Art & Culture ✨

#hellohalloween

Located on the third floor of the baroque palace Ca’ Pesaro (Campo della Carità 1050 / Santa Croce 2076) overlooking the Grand Canal in Venice, the museum opened in 1928 and houses one of the most important collections of Asian art in Europe.

Inside, you’ll discover a rich assembly of artefacts collected by Prince Henry of Bourbon‑Parma during his travels in Asia (1887-1889). Highlights include an extensive collection of Japanese Edo-period weapons, armour and lacquer work, Chinese porcelains and jades, as well as objects from Southeast Asia such as Indonesian wayang puppets and Thai ceremonial lacquer pieces.

Whether you’re interested in martial art heritage, fine lacquers, or just a quieter museum stop in Venice, the Museo d’Arte Orientale offers a deeply fascinating alternative to the more-crowded art-house circuit. It’s open Tuesday to Sunday (typically 10 a.m.–6 p.m.), closed Monday, and entry is included in the ticket to the Ca’ Pesaro museum complex (full approx. €10, reduced around €7.50).
