Baroque Splendor and Klimt's Fascination

Somewhat overshadowed in terms of art by its Upper counterpart, the temporary exhibit was still captivating, and the Baroque aspects of the rooms are breathtaking. Gustav Klimt ‒ Pigment & Pixel was intriguing, mainly due to the use of modern scientific methods for detailed art analysis. These investigations can often identify whether a piece is authentically produced by the claimed artist or not. In Klimt's case, instrumental analyses show how he incorporated gold and other precious metals into his works. His painting Judith is extraordinary; she dons a gold collar and is encompassed by more of the same. The central theme, her beheading of Holofernes, is diminished to a mere detail, requiring a close examination to spot his head in her right hand. Finished in 1716 for the notable Prince Eugene, the Palace is intricately designed and features cherished rooms like the stunning Marble Hall. The Stables house a permanent collection of Medieval art, which is also rather engaging.
