It can be said that anyone who visits Vientiane

and doesn't pay homage to Pha That Luang, it's almost as if they haven't arrived.

According to Lao history, Pha That Luang

was built at the same time as the city of Vientiane

by King Chanthaburi Prasitsak,

the first ruler of Vientiane,

along with five arhats, to enshrine the Buddha's relics.

Furthermore, legend has it that Pha That Luang

has a history of construction dating back thousands of years, just like Pha That Phanom in Thailand.
