Dongpo Academy is located at the foot of Shu Mountain, northeast of Dingshu Town, Yixing City. Lush trees, chirping birds, and a small river flowing quietly in front of the courtyard create a tranquil and elegant environment. The buildings within the courtyard are neatly arranged and magnificent, with a simple and elegant style, reflecting a strong ethnic style. According to historical records, Dongpo Academy was built during the Northern Song Dynasty. Despite the vicissitudes of the past millennia, generations of local people, committed to literature and education, have raised funds and meticulously restored it, ensuring it remains well-preserved to this day.
The academy displays numerous manuscripts and calligraphy by Su Dongpo, as well as cultural relics and historical materials. The Zaijiu Hall displays inscriptions of poetry and paintings by renowned artists throughout the ages, including a stone inscription of "Dongpo in a Hat and Sandals" by Song Lian from the early Ming Dynasty. The academy also exhibits over 300 inscribed poems by Guo Moruo, Deng Tuo, and Tian Han, as well as artwork by renowned calligraphers and painters. A colorful sculpture depicting Su Dongpo lecturing in the center of the main hall features lifelike figures of Su Dongpo, Su Guo, and Li Ziyun.
