The National Assembly (Lao: ສະພາແຫ່ງຊາດ; English: National Assembly) is the highest organ of power in Laos.[1] It serves as a rubber stamp certifying the legitimacy of the Party.[1] However, efforts are underway to enhance its capacity to strengthen its legislative, administrative, and public representation responsibilities.
Major General Nguyen Quoc Dung, Commander-in-Chief of Vietnam's 11th Army Corps, revealed that construction of the new National Assembly Hall began on November 1, 2018, with Vietnam's 11th Army Corps serving as the contractor.
The National Assembly Hall is a five-story building consisting of a large conference room for Assembly meetings, a main hall, a hall of honor, small and medium-sized conference rooms, offices for the Assembly's committees, and a preparation room for meetings.
The construction project for the Lao National Assembly Hall is valued at over US$100 million, funded through grants from the Party/State and the Vietnamese people. and the Lao people.
Major General Nguyen Quoc Dung said the building's design emphasizes Lao cultural identity, is elegant, modern, and durable, with a lifespan of more than 100 years.
