Coastal Charm of Vung Tau

Vung Tau, a beautiful coastal city in the South, is just a 2-hour drive from Ho Chi Minh City, making it a frequent destination for me. The coastal road here is clean and scenic, with the blue sea on one side and mountains on the other.

Though small, Vung Tau offers plenty to explore, from its beaches to its rich Southern cuisine. Popular beaches include Thuy Van, Dau, and Dua. Thuy Van beach is the main public swimming area, lined with parks, snack stalls, and plenty of hotels and resorts.

For a quieter experience, I prefer Tam Duong beach (Front Beach) with its coconut trees and closer views of ships. This area also offers cafés, souvenir shops, and seafood restaurants. Behind Fusion Suites Hotel, Xom Luoi Market is a must-visit for fresh seafood – a favorite spot where my daughter and I enjoyed picking out live seafood for a custom meal.

Vung Tau’s food scene is another highlight. Don’t miss local specialties like banh khot, salted egg sponge cake, Alibaba ice cream, and stingray hotpot. One of our favorite memories is savoring ice cream while watching the sea at night.
