Tomogashima, an island with a Laputa-like world
Tomogashima is an uninhabited island in Wakayama Prefecture, where you can feel a mysterious atmosphere just like the movie "Laputa". Ruins and nature are in perfect harmony, and there are many photogenic spots.
◆Highlights
- Laputa-like ruins: Brick buildings that were once used as fortresses have coexisted with nature over the years, creating a world just like the movie "Laputa". This is a must-see spot for ruin lovers.
- Photogenic nature: The entire island is covered in greenery, so no matter where you take a photo, it's sure to look great! The contrast between the ruins and the forest is beautiful, and you can take wonderful photos.
- Remains that give you a sense of history: Since it was used as a fortress from the Meiji period to the Pacific War, traces of the gun batteries and air raid shelters from that time remain. This is an interesting point for history lovers.
- Flora and fauna that coexist with nature: Tomogashima is rich in nature and you can encounter a variety of flora and fauna. We recommend walking around the island while listening to the birds singing and the sounds of the sea.
◆Notes
You'll be walking quite a bit!
We recommend wearing comfortable clothing.
◆Access
