On a week-long business trip to Wenchang, food, accommodation, and other essentials were paramount. I spent a long time choosing a hotel. The hotel's ambiance was crucial, considering I'd be staying for several days. The hotel offered excellent value, a great location, and was surrounded by delicious restaurants.
Location: Near Wenchang Middle School, convenient for shopping. Next door are Juhexiang Chinese and Western Tea Shop and Laoba Tea Shop. They're delicious and affordable. The Wenchang noodles are thin and juicy, and they also offer beef jerky, which I prefer.
Hotel Name: Ritz-Carlton
Rooms are excellent. The room was warm and elegant. The bedding was soft and comfortable, and the latex mattress was incredibly springy. Lying down felt like being enveloped in a cloud, and my sleep quality skyrocketed. It also had a standard desk and chair, making it comfortable for working on my computer. The bathroom had separate wet and dry areas, and the toiletries were high-quality, with plenty of attention to detail. Most importantly, there were no mosquitoes buzzing at night, which was a welcome relief.
Food
Xing Zhou Fang
I recommend Xing Zhou Fang, which is only open at night and always packed. The seafood porridge and stir-fried black-bone chicken with sand ginger are truly excellent. The fresh and sweet seafood, with a hint of pepper, is absolutely delicious. The average cost per person is 50 yuan.
Juhexiang Chinese and Western Tea Shop
The tea shop is affordable, with a portion around 8-10 yuan. The Wenchang dumplings are delicious, the broth is deeply flavorful, and the pan-fried dumplings are incredibly crispy and tender. They make their own dumplings, not frozen.
