Wenquan Town, a border town in Xinjiang

Since accommodation in the Sayram Lake Scenic Area is too expensive, I found the nearest transit station, Wenquan Town. I thought it was just a stopover, but it turned out to be a treasure. This is a small town on the China-Kazakhstan border, surrounded by snow-capped mountains on three sides. At the foot of the mountains are stretches of grass. The sunlight filtered through the snow-capped mountains is pure and transparent.

✅: Surrounded by mountains on three sides, the snow melts in summer, making it cool and comfortable. It is a summer resort in Xinjiang.

✅: The city is very small, with only one main road from the southern foot of the mountain to the northern foot of the mountain. There are two traffic police officers at every traffic light intersection, giving you a full sense of security day and night.

✅: Many hotels have private hot spring rooms with sulfur hot springs.

✅: The beef and mutton in Wenquan Town is very famous. I recommend the baked buns, which are filled with beef and mutton fat. They are very fragrant.

✅: It is an hour's drive from Sayram Lake, and the scenery along the way is amazing, with grasslands, mountains and forests, and riverbeds.

✅: You can see marmots up close on a hillside along the way.
