Wuhan Botanical Garden

Wuhan Botanical Garden, originally known as Wuhan Institute of Botany, was planned in 1956 and officially established in November 1958. It was one of the first national botanical research institutions established by the Chinese Academy of Sciences after the liberation of China. Over the course of more than 50 years, it has undergone several changes in affiliation and name. In October 2003, in line with the strategic layout of the 'Three Gardens and Two Institutes' of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Wuhan Institute of Botany was renamed Wuhan Botanical Garden. Located on the banks of East Lake and at the foot of Moshan Hill in Wuhan, it is a comprehensive scientific research institution that integrates scientific research, species conservation, and public science education. It is one of the three core botanical gardens in China.
