If you’re ever in Wuhan and want to do something meaningful (and a bit magical), Guiyuan Temple is a must-visit. Every local’s been here at least once — especially when they’re hoping for good luck in money, career, or life decisions.

This temple isn’t just famous for its beautiful architecture and peaceful vibes — it’s known for the Rohan Counting Ritual — and it’s seriously fun (and lowkey accurate)!

Count the Luohan (Arhats) — Here's How!
There are two ways to do it. Pick whichever feels right:

Method 1: “Traditional Way”

Men count from the left, Women from the right
Count up to your age — that Luohan is said to represent you!
Method 2: “Go With the Vibe”

Pick the Luohan that catches your eye first
Then start counting from there based on your age
Remember the number — you’ll find out the meaning afterwards
Tip: After you finish counting, head to the right side of the exit to interpret the result. You can also look it up online later!
