Xiazhuang: The Hometown of Model of the Times

🌈Scenic Features: Xiazhuang Village is located in Zhuxian Township, Wushan County. It is a magical village situated between the Pingding River and Houxi River in the upper reaches of the Small Three Gorges. Due to geological changes, the entire Xiazhuang Village forms a huge bucket shape, surrounded by steep cliffs. The lowest elevation at the bottom of the pit is only 200 meters, while the highest point along the edge reaches 1,350 meters. Looking down from the road at the edge of the cliff, the approximately 1,000 mu of farmland at the bottom of the pit appears as small as a palm, with over 90 households scattered around, and pedestrians looking like ants. It is very shocking.

In the past, the only connection between the people of Xiazhuang and the outside world was a hidden, winding path on the cliff, concealed among the thorns. People had to walk along this path, surrounded by cliffs, to enter or leave the village. In such an inconveniently located small mountain village, the memory of contemporary Xiazhuang people includes 23 individuals who fell to their deaths while walking on the cliff path, and over 100 people who never left the mountains.👫 In the 1990s, the people of Xiazhuang, at the cost of their lives, built a 12-kilometer simple tractor road on the steep cliffs. Since then, the lives of the people of Xiazhuang have undergone earth-shaking changes.

🚶Model of the Times: Mao Xianglin is the Party Branch Secretary of Xiazhuang Village, Zhuxian Township, Wushan County, Chongqing. He led the villagers to carve out a road on the cliff over seven years and then led them to overcome difficulties, exploring and cultivating the citrus industry over 15 years, enabling the entire village of Xiazhuang to escape poverty. He is known as the contemporary Yu Gong and has been awarded the title of "National Model for Poverty Alleviation."
