I thought Suzhou was beautiful until I visited Wuxi.

Wuxi locals are really good at keeping secrets! This is the first time I've heard of this amazing 5A-rated scenic spot, even better than Yuantouzhu! The Three Kingdoms City and Water Margin City, located by Taihu Lake, is truly a surprising gem. Don't let the name put you off – this is the most beautiful Jiangnan town I've ever seen.

With Song Dynasty architecture on one side and Han Dynasty architecture on the other, plus numerous performances throughout the day, it's like a giant live-action role-playing game. Dressed in Hanfu, I could immerse myself in the experience all day long! For first-time visitors, I recommend this one-day itinerary:

📍Three Kingdoms City
This Han-style architectural complex is where the CCTV series Romance of the Three Kingdoms was filmed. The large-scale palaces, built against the backdrop of mountains and water, look especially stunning on rainy days, enveloped in a mystical mist. If you visit now, you can also see a large area of late-blooming cherry blossoms, offering a much better cherry blossom viewing experience than Yuantouzhu!

📍Water Margin City
This Song Dynasty architectural complex is where Zhao's Teahouse from the TV series A Dream of Splendor is located! Not only does it feature the Grand Song Palace and the Chancellor's Residence, but the houses and thatched cottages by the lake are also incredibly lifelike. A spring rain brings to life the misty Jiangnan scenes depicted in ancient poems.
