If you're yearning for seas of rapeseed flowers and want to experience the tranquility of an ancient Huizhou village, then Wuyuan, Jiangxi, is a must-see. This trip focuses on Wuyuan's Huangling District. Beyond the golden fields, you'll find old houses adorned with autumn sunflowers and a heartwarming village market—a true paradise for camera and phone photographers!
Huangling Highlights
Wuyuan's Huangling is most famous for its terraced rapeseed fields. Every spring, especially from March to April, the blossoms spread like a golden wave across the village. Of course, even if you're visiting outside of blooming season, the ancient Huizhou-style buildings, homes drying autumn sunflowers, and charming streets and alleyways are worth exploring. Huangling's stilt houses and narrow streets blend natural landscapes with village culture, creating a perfect photo op.
Main Itinerary
Wuyuan Huangling
Early in the morning, you can take a scenic shuttle bus or drive to Huangling Village. Arriving in the morning is recommended for less crowded times, making it easier to avoid the crowds and take photos. The village itself is nestled against the mountainside, requiring a number of stairs and steps, so remember to wear comfortable, non-slip sneakers.
After entering the scenic area, your first stop is the observation deck at the village entrance, offering a panoramic view of the terraced fields. During blooming season, you can even capture the magnificent spectacle of a thousand flowers in one breathtaking scene. Stroll through the village alleys and experience the vibrant colors of autumn harvests as households dry their crops. Red peppers, yellow pumpkins, and corn, among other vibrant colors, evoke a vibrant atmosphere.
We also recommend a short stroll to the famous "Huangling Heavenly Street," where small shops selling handmade tea, agricultural products, and local snacks are lined with quaint cafes, perfect for a rest stop. For photography enthusiasts, be sure to look for the "Sky Mirror" built into the stilt houses—it's a great spot for photos, rain or shine!
