#Hainan · Wuzhishan#

Escape the crowded beaches and dive into the heart of the tropical rainforest—Wuzhishan, the "green lung" and cultural origin of Hainan Island. This place is not only an ecological secret but also the birthplace of the Li and Miao cultures, perfect for travelers seeking depth and nature.

Recommended duration: 2 days 1 night (can be combined with Sanya or Qiongzhong Baihualing tours)
Budget level: Low to medium (affordable, suitable for light luxury camping and eco-living)

Day 1: Explore the tropical rainforest, hike Wuzhishan National Forest Park
After arriving in Wuzhishan City, head to the Wuzhishan National Nature Reserve. It is recommended to enter the mountain from the southern foothills, take the scenic area shuttle to the mid-mountain, and start a light hiking journey. Walk along the primitive rainforest boardwalk, with towering cyatheas and banyan trees overhead, and birdsong and insect calls around you. Along the way, check in at the "First Peak" to "Third Peak" viewing platforms, gazing at Hainan’s highest peak—the main peak of Wuzhishan (elevation 1867 meters, shrouded in mist like a fairyland). You will see streams, waterfalls, and moss-covered rocks, resembling the world of "Avatar."

Day 2: Visit Li ethnic villages, experience intangible cultural heritage crafts
In the morning, visit Chubao Village or Tongshi Town Li Cultural Park to see traditional "boat-shaped houses" and learn about Li brocade weaving—a millennia-old intangible heritage now passed down by the younger generation. You can join a Li brocade workshop and weave a colorful thread by hand. For lunch, taste authentic Li cuisine: bamboo tube rice, five-foot pig, Lei Gong bamboo shoot scrambled eggs, and Shanlan wine, with a rustic yet sincere flavor. In the afternoon, visit the Hainan Ethnic Museum (free admission) to systematically learn about the history and totem beliefs of Hainan’s ethnic minorities.

Tips: The rainforest is humid and hot; it is recommended to wear quick-dry clothes and mosquito-proof pants; bring mosquito repellent and sunscreen; mountain trails are slippery, so wear anti-slip hiking shoes; respect ethnic customs and do not photograph people without permission; the best season is from November to April to avoid typhoon season.
