Slow Travel Guide to Wuzhishan

Hainan's Hidden Gem|3-Day Slow Travel Guide to Wuzhishan, Explore Tropical Rainforest and Li Ethnic Culture for Just 500 RMB per Person!

As a travel blogger who has deeply explored the whole country, today I’ll take you to Hainan’s "green lung"—Wuzhishan City. There are no crowded beaches here, but you’ll find pristine rainforests, thrilling rafting, and Li and Miao cultures, all at affordable prices for a comfortable and enjoyable experience!

📍Day 1: Wuzhishan National Nature Reserve (near the city)
First stop, check in at the core attraction—Wuzhishan Main Peak Scenic Area (ticket ¥68). Climb high to admire the five finger-like peaks standing side by side, shrouded in mist like a fairyland. It’s recommended to hike the trail to the second and third peak viewing platforms, about 2 hours in total, moderate intensity. ⚠️Avoid pitfalls: Do not trust “wild routes” for climbing, easy to get lost and no signal!

📍Day 2: Hongxia Valley Rafting (30 minutes from the city)
A must-try in summer! Hongxia Valley Rafting (ticket ¥168, buy online in advance for ¥138), the river is long with big drops, thrilling and refreshing. Bring a waterproof bag for your phone; the park’s changing rooms are basic but usable. After rafting soaking wet, enjoy a local farmhouse meal by the river—Bojifan (a traditional dish), about ¥40 per person, very satisfying.

📍Day 3: Hainan Provincial Museum of Ethnic Minorities → Yahu Terraced Fields (city line + west line)
In the morning, visit the Ethnic Museum (free, reservation required) to systematically learn about Li brocade weaving, boat-shaped houses, and the March 3 Festival customs— a must for culture lovers. In the afternoon, take a charter or shared ride to Yahu Terraced Fields (40 minutes from the city), the “Longji of Hainan” hidden deep in the mountains, with layers upon layers of stunning light and shadow. ⚠️Note: Mountain roads are rugged, be cautious on rainy days; no entrance fee, but parking may cost ¥10–20.

💰 Budget Control (3 days 2 nights):
Accommodation: City guesthouse/ budget hotel ¥100/night × 2 = ¥200
Meals: ¥70/day × 3 = ¥210
Transport + tickets ≈ ¥200 (bus + short-distance shared rides)
👉 Total cost under 600 RMB, extremely cost-effective!

💡Tips:
It’s cool in the mountains early morning and evening, bring a light jacket;
No hot water for rinsing after rafting, bring wet wipes;
Respect ethnic minority customs, ask permission before taking photos.

In Wuzhishan,
the air tastes sweet, the breeze is cool,
Li songs echo in the valleys,
and you will understand:
True Hainan is not just sunshine and beaches,
but also in that patch of pristine forest green to the core of your heart.
