Wuzhou Arcade City

Wuzhou's Qilou Street was built in the late 19th century and has a history of more than 100 years. Wuzhou has now renovated several of them and named it "China's Arcade City".
The Qilou City is located in the old city area of ​​Hedong, Wuzhou, Guangxi. There are 22 existing arcade streets with a total length of 7 kilometers. The longest street is 2,530 meters long and there are 560 arcade buildings. The scale and number of these buildings are rare in China. Qilou City is a historical witness of Wuzhou's prosperity in commerce for a hundred years in modern times. Most of the arcades here are three or four stories high. The part above the second floor of the street-facing shops extends out to protect the shops below, like riding on the road, hence the name "Qilou". People walk on the sheltered sidewalks, protected from the wind, sun and rain, and can stroll and shop leisurely. The streets are bustling with people, the shops in the mall are doing a booming business, and from time to time you can hear the clear Cantonese voices singing like Cantonese opera to attract customers. This place is indeed the hometown of Cantonese opera and the birthplace of the Cantonese language.
At night, the streets of Wuzhou are brightly lit. On an ancient archway, the big words "China's Arcade City" shine brightly.
