Xiangji Temple: "Unaware of Xiangji Temple, several miles into the cloud peak."

Xiangji Temple in Xi'an is the ancestral home of the Pure Land Sect of Chinese Buddhism, located in Xiangji Temple Village, Guodu Street, Chang'an District, Xi'an, Shaanxi Province.
🌟Xiangji Temple was built in the second year of Yonglong of Emperor Gaozong of the Tang Dynasty (681 AD) by Huai Yun, a disciple of Shandao, one of the founders of the Pure Land Sect, to commemorate Shandao's merits. Xiangji Temple is not only the first dojo after the formal establishment of the Pure Land Sect, but also the ancestral home of the Japanese Pure Land Sect, because the founder of the Japanese Pure Land Sect, Honen, regarded Shandao as the ancestor and Xiangji Temple as the ancestral home. The halls of Xiangji Temple are solemn and neat, the environment is elegant, and the scale is large. The famous Tang Dynasty poet Wang Wei once wrote the poem "Passing Xiangji Temple" to praise it: "Unaware of Xiangji Temple, several miles into the cloud peak. Ancient trees have no human path, where is the bell in the deep mountains. The spring sound is choked by the dangerous rock, and the sun is cold and green. At dusk, the empty pool is curved, and the Zen is safe to control the poisonous dragon." This poem depicts the depth, tranquility, and leisure of Xiangji Temple.
