An alternative to Shaanxi History Museum

Most people go to Shaanxi History Museum when visiting XiAn, but which is horrendously hard to land a reservation. Some locals spent their whole lives still not getting a ticket.

The Xi'an Museum is an excellent alternative for visitors who are unable to secure tickets to the popular Shaanxi History Museum.

Located next to the historic Small Wild Goose Pagoda, it offers a serene and culturally rich experience with far less crowding. The museum features a well-curated collection of artifacts from the Han to Tang dynasties, including exquisite Tang tri-colored figurines, bronze mirrors, and jade carvings.

Admission is free, though an advance reservation is required via the museum’s official WeChat or booking platforms.

Open from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM during peak season (closed on Tuesdays), the Xi'an Museum provides an accessible, peaceful, and informative journey through Xi’an’s imperial past.
