Xian - Land of the Warriors

Xi'an is an amazing city bursting with beautiful sites and historic buildings. While there are many incredible attractions, the undisputed highlight is the Terracotta Warriors - it's no wonder they're called the eighth wonder of the world!

Pro tip: You'll need to book tickets in advance as it gets extremely crowded (as the Chinese say, 人山人海 - literally "people mountain people sea"). To avoid the biggest crowds, either arrive right when it opens or take the last time slot when people are leaving (note that a taxi there is fairly affordable but the road can be very busy leading up to the site). Plan for about five hours to fully appreciate this magnificent site - trust me, you'll want to savor every minute.

After your visit, reward yourself with Xi'an's most famous dish: Yangrou Paomo (羊肉泡馍) - a hearty lamb stew where you tear flatbread into tiny pieces to soak up the rich broth. Pair it with a cold beer for the perfect post-sightseeing meal!
