Introducing Longchuan Scenic Area

The Longchuan Scenic Area, located in Longchuan Village, 11 kilometers east of Jixi County, Anhui Province , is the ancestral home of Comrade Hu Jintao. Longchuan is the ancient name for Kengkou Village. The village is bordered by Longxu Mountain, and a small stream (called "chuan") runs through it, giving it the ancient name of Longchuan. Later generations believed that the stream (also called "keng") flowed into the Dengyuan River, suggesting that a dragon could free the stream, hence the name "Kengkou."

Longchuan is a typical Huizhou-style village, home to the Hu clan. Longchuan Creek flows eastward around the village and joins the Dengyuan River, forming one of the most picturesque villages in ancient Huizhou. The village's boat-like shape, reminiscent of a dragon boat setting sail, makes it a truly auspicious location for feng shui.

Inside the scenic area, ancient houses line the banks of the waterside street, and the village alleys are quiet and secluded. Whitewashed walls and black tiles, with proud horses, evoke the charm of an ancient Huizhou village. Besides admiring the wood carvings at the Hu Clan Ancestral Hall, you can also sample local delicacies at the village restaurants.
