bell tower

#hellohalloween

Structure: The tower is a brick-and-timber structure standing on a large, square brick base. While it appears to have three stories, it has only two, with the multiple eaves providing an illusion of height.
Decorations: Its colorful design reflects typical Ming-dynasty style, featuring dark green glazed tiles on the eaves, gilded decoration, and intricate carvings on its doors.
The Jingyun Bell: The original bell, known as the Jingyun Bell, was cast during the Tang Dynasty (in 711 AD) and was relocated to the tower. After it mysteriously fell silent, it was moved to the nearby Forest of Stone Steles Museum for preservation. A replica now hangs on the tower and is rung during special events.
