During the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, on the border line between the Wuyue Kingdom and the Southern Tang Kingdom (present-day Ningguo area in Anhui Province), which is now the Tianmu Mountains, a city wall stretching hundreds of miles along the mountainside was built, and checkpoints were set up. Several roads connecting the two countries were also built on the relatively low and easy-to-walk hillsides. They were all built with the hard work of conscripted civilians, and are now called the Wuyue Ancient Road.
The Wuyue Ancient Road, paved with bluestone slabs, is a magnificent sight, embodying the vicissitudes of time. The well-preserved Wuyue Ancient Road stretches approximately 12 kilometers, with entrances at Zhelin Village in Lin'an, Zhejiang, and Data Village in Wanjiaxiang, Ningguo, Anhui. Plan 1 : From Tianchi Lake in western Zhejiang to Datang Village in Wanjiaxiang. This is a very wise choice. Maintain your energy level, climb to the top of Qianqing Mountain to overlook the vastness of Tianchi Lake, and climb the Qianqing Pass to listen to the wind and the deer's cry. Then, walk down the valley, along the stream and waterfall, and walk along the ancient steps and leisurely stroll through the forest.
Option 2 : From Data Village in Wanjia Township to Tianchi Lake in Western Zhejiang. This is a painful and masochistic option for hikers, taking three hours to slowly climb through mountain valleys, finally reaching the summit to view Tianchi Lake in Western Zhejiang and ascend to the top of the Erli Peak.
