Nestled in the high-altitude meadows of Ganjia Township, near Xiahe County, Ganjia Mijing—also known as Ganjia Secret Land—is a breathtaking destination that blends natural beauty, Tibetan culture, and ancient history. Far from the crowds, this serene landscape offers a rare glimpse into the traditional lifestyle of the Amdo Tibetans, surrounded by rolling grasslands, sacred monasteries, and ancient ruins.
📜 History & Culture
Ganjia Mijing is home to the Baishiya Monastery, founded in the 14th century, and the Bajiao Ancient Town, a fortified settlement with roots tracing back to the Han Dynasty (206 BC–220 AD). Archaeological finds reveal relics from the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, making it a living museum of Silk Road history
The region remains deeply tied to Tibetan traditions. Locals still herd yaks, live in seasonal tents, and practice ancient customs like milk tea brewing, bonfire rituals, and Buddhist meditation. The Yangqu and Yangla Rivers flow through the valley like white khada scarves, adding poetic charm to the landscape
