Xichang 2-day 1-night walking tour! Check in at Diaoyutai, explore Jianchang Ancient Town, dance into the Yi ethnic night at Torch Square, and make a wish in front of the Moon Goddess that really works!
Want to escape the city's hustle and bustle? Come to Xichang! Sunshine, lake breeze, ancient charm, and ethnic customs all in one! I just came back from a spontaneous 2-day 1-night trip—no pitfalls, great pace, stunning photos, even the locals praised my travel skills!
📅 Day 1: Old town fireworks + Qionghai slow life
📍 Morning: Head straight to Jianchang Ancient Town! Bluestone roads, upturned eaves, a bowl of covered tea in a teahouse, as if traveling back to the Ming and Qing dynasties. Don’t just take photos, remember to try a bite of “Li Liangfen” + “Yindouba,” the spicy sweat-inducing taste is authentic!
📍 Afternoon: Bike along the Qionghai Lake Greenway, passing the popular Diaoyutai—not the one visited by national leaders! This is a lakeside pier, with swaying reeds and flying waterbirds; every snap looks like a National Geographic cover! Bring a fishing rod for better shots (if you catch a small fish, remember to release it~)
📍 Evening: Check into a lakeside guesthouse, wait for a Qionghai sunset, orange light spreading over the lake, calming the heart.
🌙 Night: Rush to Torch Square! If you catch a festival, join the bonfire dance circle, hold hands and dance! Even without a festival, don’t leave—Yi girls sing and dance, roasted potatoes and fermented tofu aromas fill the air, full of lively local atmosphere!
📅 Day 2: A date with mythology and romance
🌅 Early morning: Get up early to Moon Goddess Square! Backed by Lushan Mountain, facing Qionghai Lake, the giant “Moon Daughter” sculpture is sacred and poetic in the morning light. Locals say: making a wish here is especially effective! I quietly wrote a wish card combining “no acne, sudden wealth, and finding love,” haha!
✅ Backup activities:
- Have extra time? Go up Lushan Mountain to see wild monkeys (don’t feed them! They’ll snatch your bag!)
- Love taking photos? Wear Yi ethnic costumes, check in at Jianchang Ancient Town + Moon Goddess, and get over a hundred likes on social media!
🚨 Absolutely don’t do!
❌ Litter at Diaoyutai = get scolded on the spot by an elder
❌ Dance in slippers at Torch Square = twisted ankle warning!
❌ Loud noise under the goddess statue = instant death stare from local aunties!
✨ Remember: Xichang’s beauty is the slowed-down sunshine, the breath of a thousand-year-old town, and a place where people and nature whisper to each other. Two days and one night, just right—romantic enough, wild enough!
