Introducing Phoenix Valley

The Phoenix Valley Scenic Area, located in Wulong Zhuang Township, Shizong County, Qujing City, Yunnan Province, has an average altitude of 1,200 meters and a planned area of 180 square kilometers. It features a karst landscape, characterized by unique geological features, combined with botanical and waterscapes, and rich ethnic customs. The Phoenix Cave within the scenic area is a horizontal karst cavern formed by an underground river. Its fundamental characteristics can be summarized in five words: high, large, dangerous, unique, and stunning.

The vertical height of the front cave reaches 219 meters, which is the highest in China. The huge hall in the cave covers an area of more than 10,000 square meters and is more than 70 meters high. The ingenious combination of the huge cave entrance and the huge hall constitutes the wonder of "Cave Sunshine". Connected to the cave is a huge canyon. The valley bottom is only 30-80 meters wide, but the height difference is more than 600 meters. The steep cave canyon landscape is a stunning sight and is amazing.

The cave boasts a variety of stalactites, stalagmites, stone pillars, stone shields, and waterfalls of varying sizes and shapes. The Fagang River roars through the cave, plunging 100 meters within its 1.8-kilometer length, creating waterfalls and treacherous rapids. The canyon's banks are covered in well-preserved vegetation, lush with trees and entwined with vines. The massive cave entrance, vast halls, and precipitous canyon, along with swallows roosting in the front cave, bats foraging in the back cave, and the "Gate of Life" at the entrance, resembling a vulva, are all rare sights in China.
