Hongcun is the Unesco village that many flock to. I visited both Hongcun and Xidi, and Xidi wins hands-down!

I went for a walk at 6am and witnessed the gentle awakening of the village. There was tranquility in this history. My breakfast was at this cafe where you can borrow a book off the shelf. Accompanied by a beautiful soundtrack, I had a leisurely morning with a good book, osmanthus latte and dumplings.

Hongcun was a cacophony from dawn to dusk! I would even go as far as to say the alleys in Xidi were more atmospheric than Hongcun.
