Endless Yellow Blossoms in a Waterway Labyrinth

Spring in China brings the yellow blossoms of the rapeseed plant. I’ve been to some of China’s most famous rapeseed flower viewing locations: Wuyuan (Jiangxi) and Luoping (Yunnan). They are amazing and Qianduo Scenic Area in Xinghua, Jiangsu should be added to the list.

Qianduo is located about 15 kilometers north of Xinghua City. The closest high-speed railway station is in Taizhou. It will take about an hour to get to Qianduo from Taizhou station. There are accommodations right next to the entrance to the scenic area, which is more convenient if you want to explore the flowers in the morning (rather than staying in Xinghua City).

Tickets were 50 RMB for the entrance and another 50 RMB for a boat ride through the canals.

The scenic area is quite large. You can spend over half a day exploring depending on your interest. 2-3 hours may be sufficient for a less intensive visit.

Flowers generally begin to bloom in mid-March. But if you don’t mind the crowds, the flower viewing will be better around early April when the Tomb Sweeping holiday occurs.
