After traveling through many villages across the country, the only perfect countryside that amazed both me and my child is Guizhou Wanfenglin! It’s really, really, really healing~
Just a few steps and you’re surrounded by scenery. Just casually holding up your phone to take pictures, the child’s smiling face paired with the karst peaks and golden rice fields makes every shot a family masterpiece📸! The best part is there aren’t many tourists, so pushing a stroller around is super easy. The kids have fun, and we can slowly enjoy ourselves—we simply don’t want to leave!
Besides sightseeing, the highlight is letting the kids eat local fruits! Bananas🍌 are soft and super sweet, oranges🍊 are very juicy. You can buy them at the small market near the Banyan Tree Inn in Xianhuai Village. Many are grown by the villagers themselves, affordable and fresh. My kid can eat almost half a bunch of bananas at once—healthy and satisfying~
🏠 How to choose accommodation? Family travelers, check this out!
Want your kids to fully immerse in the countryside? Choosing a homestay in Xianhuai Village is definitely the way to go! Especially the area south of the village committee and north of Fuzitian. Open the window and you see rice fields and mountains, and you can wake up to birdsong in the morning~ However, during summer vacation, homestay prices are a bit high, with good ones costing over 700-800 yuan, suitable for families with a sufficient budget.
If you want cost-effectiveness, I strongly recommend Fenglin Yueshan Hotel near the scenic area! It’s only 5 kilometers from the scenic spot, with room facilities better than most homestays, but the price is only half that of high-end homestays—super worth it for families with kids~
🚗 Family travel tips!
Wanfenglin Scenic Area is very large. Although driving is convenient, the internal roads are narrow, there are many photo spots, and parking is very troublesome. It’s recommended to rent an electric vehicle! There are single and multi-person options, costing from a few dozen to 150 yuan per day. Rental points are everywhere. Ride slowly with your kids, stop whenever you want, and enjoy maximum flexibility~
About tickets: If you don’t bring a drone, you must buy one! The scenic area shuttle bus runs along the mid-mountain route, offering views completely different from driving. Riding the bus with kids to see the scenery is super impressive; if you do bring a drone, then the ticket isn’t necessary, as the aerial shots can perfectly replace the view~
🍜 Family dining tips!
There are many restaurants in the scenic area, you can eat anywhere, just choose according to your child’s taste. But avoid the egg fried rice near Jiangjun Bridge! Many people recommend it, but it’s honestly average, neither appealing nor tasty. Even street stalls in Beijing do better. Don’t fall into this trap with your kids~
I recommend going to the café in the fields! Sitting inside watching the pastoral scenery outside is super comfortable~ Order an Americano or latte, play with your kids for a while, then chat with family and edit photos to post on social media. Leisurely and satisfying, this is the right way to enjoy a family trip~
