Hunan Loudi Mount Daxiushan | Southern Botanical and Zoological Garden

Daxiushan National Forest Park, located in Xinhua County, Loudi City, Hunan Province, is a treasure trove of natural beauty. As one of the largest national forest parks in Hunan Province, it is renowned for its magnificent peaks, waterfalls, seas of clouds, and other natural landscapes.

🚗Route: You can first navigate to Daxiushan Scenic Area, then navigate to Chiyou Valley Inn, and then keep driving up. This will give you a better grasp of the route.

Self-driving is recommended for the entire trip. Bring camping gear and immerse yourself in the outdoor experience.

Attractions:
1. Chiyou Culture Park
It is said that Chiyou's old house was built here, and the ruins of Chiyou's house are still preserved in this cultural park.

2. Xiongshan Ancient Temple
Originally built during the Two Jin Dynasties, it was renovated during the Chenghua period of the Ming Dynasty and rebuilt again in 2011. It is the largest religious site in central Hunan and houses a 1,400-year-old Chinese King Ginkgo tree.

3. Ten Mile Azalea
Every spring and summer, there are azalea viewing opportunities every month.

4. Daxiushan Peak
The hiking trail starts from Jinding Mountain at an altitude of 1,090 meters, crosses 3,333 steps, and reaches Daxiushan Peak at an altitude of 1,605 meters.

5. Nine Dragon Pool
It is the highest peak of Daxiushan, with an altitude of 1,622 meters, and also the highest peak in central Hunan.

6. Chunji Gorge
Named after Chiyou's wife, Chunji, this gorge is known as the "Love Stream." Inside the gorge, you can find Chunji Pool, Mandarin Duck Waterfall Cluster, Mandarin Ducks Playing in Water, and A Match Made in Heaven.

7. Gaofeng Lake
It covers an area of 15 hectares and has a narrow and long shape.

8. Ancient Forest Plank Road
This is a walking trail connecting Daxiushan Peak and Chuanyan River, offering a panoramic view of the primitive secondary forest. You can see rare trees such as the Southern Chinese Yew.

9. Daxiushan has multiple waterfalls
Tongzichong Waterfall (the most famous), Tianjiayuan Waterfall, Shiliping Waterfall, and Fanjiadong Waterfall.

10. Mountaintop Sea of Clouds
If you're lucky enough to encounter the right weather, you can witness a sea of clouds.
