The Yamagata Prefectural Museum "Bunshokan" is a designated Important Cultural Property and has been used as a filming location for movies.
It was used as the prefectural office and assembly hall until 1975, and the interior from that time has been preserved with explanations.
You can tour each room by following the designated route.
There is also "Tsuki Cafe Bunshokan" inside the building, so you can take a rest after your tour!
The assembly hall, gallery, and meeting rooms are also rented out, and exhibitions and concerts are sometimes held there.
Admission is free.
Business hours are from 9:00 to 16:30.
The museum is closed on the New Year holidays and the first and third Mondays of each month (or the following day if the Monday falls on a public holiday).
