While walking from Yamagata Station, we came across two cultural facilities, the Mogami Yoshiaki History Museum and the Yamagata Museum of Art.
The two facilities are located on adjacent premises.
The Mogami Yoshiaki History Museum
has many exhibits related to Mogami Yoshiaki, the military commander who built the foundations of Yamagata, and the Mogami family, and the exhibits are easy to understand and well worth seeing.
The Yamagata Museum of Art opened in 1964, and is a representative museum of Yamagata, with permanent exhibits such as the Hasegawa Collection and Yoshino Gypsum Collection, as well as many special exhibitions.
We recommend this place as a place to stay warm and enjoy a stroll through the snow in winter!
