Japan's hidden gem 🌟🤩 Departing from Sendai, experience the romantic nightscapes of Ginzan Onsen and the thrill of Zao Ski Resort in just three days and two nights! This trip combines the romance of the Taisho era with the adventure of snowy country and the healing power of hot springs—a true winter must-do in Tohoku!
📍 Day 1 | Sendai → Ginzan Onsen
🚆 From Sendai Station, take the JR Yamagata Shinkansen to Oishida. Then, transfer to a 40-minute bus to Ginzan Onsen Town, where wooden inns lining the riverbank are a filming location for the Japanese drama "Oshin." At night, illuminated, it feels like stepping into a fairytale.
🏨 Stay at Ginzan-so, enjoying stunning riverside views. Experience kaiseki ryori, featuring local Yamagata flavors for a visual and palate-pleasing experience. After dinner, soak in an open-air hot spring bath while watching the snowflakes fall—the ultimate winter romance.
📍 Day 2 | Ginzan Onsen → Zao Ski Resort
🚆 Transportation: From Ginzan Onsen, take a bus or taxi back to Oishida Station. Then, take the JR train (approximately 1 hour) to Yamagata Station. From Yamagata Station, transfer to a bus (approximately 40 minutes) to reach Zao Onsen Ski Resort.
🎿 Tohoku's largest ski resort, with over 30 trails suitable for both beginners and experts, the resort also boasts a winter-only "juhyo snow monster" spectacle, which is even more magical when illuminated at night. There are also many hot spring hotels in the area, so soak in the sulfur springs after skiing for a relaxing soak!
🏨 Stay at Meitoya Sou, a hotel near the cable car station, making it super convenient to return to after skiing. The rooms are comfortable and spacious, and best of all, the hotel's hot spring baths offer stunning winter views. It's truly worth it.
📍 Day 3 | Zao → Sendai
🚆 Enjoy another relaxing skiing session or a stroll through Zao Onsen in the morning, then take the Shinkansen back to Sendai. Once in Sendai, be sure to indulge in Yamagata beef yakiniku and Sendai beef tongue for a perfect end to your trip. 🥰
