Dragon Boat Festival Adventure: A 2-Day Secret Camping and Hiking Guide to Ji Long Ding in Yangchun, Guangdong from Hong Kong

Escape the city during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday and take the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong high-speed rail followed by a private car to reach Guangdong's "Little Wugong Mountain"—Ji Long Ding in Yangchun. Traverse alpine meadows, admire seas of clouds and blooming flowers, camp under the starry sky, and experience the hidden gem of western Guangdong.

Day 1: Hong Kong → Yangchun · Light Hiking

• Transportation: Take the early Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong high-speed rail to Guangzhou South Station (about 1 hour), then transfer to a private car to Ji Long Ding's base at Shuangjiao Town (about 2.5 hours). Rent an off-road vehicle to reach the mid-mountain campsite.

• Afternoon Hiking:

• Route: Mid-mountain campsite → Windmill Viewing Platform (summit at 1,280 meters, overlooking rolling meadows) → Clover Flower Field (Rhododendrons and bellflowers bloom from May to June).

• Tips: Wear anti-slip hiking shoes and bring trekking poles; the summit is windy, so pack a windproof jacket.

• Camping: Set up camp on the summit platform, bring portable stoves for cooking, and stargaze at night (check the weather in advance to avoid full moon nights).

Day 2: Sunrise and Sea of Clouds → Return

• Early Morning: Wake up at 4 AM and hike 10 minutes to Sunrise Rock to witness the sea of clouds and sunrise.

• Return: After breakfast, pack up the campsite and return to Shuangjiao Town. Take a private car back to Guangzhou South Station and board the high-speed rail back to Hong Kong.

Important Notes:

1. Dragon Boat Festival falls during the rainy season, so bring waterproof tents and quick-dry clothing.
2. Follow Leave No Trace principles and take all trash with you.
3. There is no signal at the summit, so download offline maps in advance.
