Xinyi | Guangdong's Own Altay—The Lesser-Known Hiking Destination of Jilongding!

It's not as grand as Altay, but it's still beautiful. Jilongding has its own charm! I thought it was a lesser-known hiking route, but many enthusiasts have already discovered it.

🔍 Navigate to "Jiucaidi," which is P1 parking lot. There aren't many parking spaces, so if you arrive late, don't drive up because the road is narrow and passing is difficult. You can park near a homestay along the way. Private parking is CNY 20–25 per car.

🚗 Depart from Guangzhou, and you can arrive in 4 hours. The service stations along the way are clean. After leaving the national highway, the provincial and county roads are mostly mountain roads, so passing is difficult. We rented a car and chose an SUV for the mountain roads. We also bought rental car insurance in advance (I'm not a confident driver) just in case.

🧢 Clothing recommendations
The temperature in the mountains is nice in autumn, but the temperature difference between noon and morning/evening is large, so bring a jacket. Also:
1⃣️ Bring sunscreen and a hat for UV protection.
2⃣️ Prepare hiking gear (shoes, bag, clothes, poles).
3⃣️ Bring plenty of water, as the hiking distance is long.

🚶🏽‍♀️ Hiking recommendations
1⃣️ Motorcycle + hiking
A motorcycle ride to the grassland is CNY 30 and takes about 20 minutes, saving most of your energy.
2⃣️ Hiking
It takes about 2 hours to walk up, with many uphill sections, but the view is worth it. Choose this if you have the energy.
After descending, you can wait for a private round-trip car to take you back to a nearby homestay.

📢 Post-hike thoughts
It really has the Altay vibe. When you climb the mountain and see the grassland, you feel that all the detours are worth it. Next time, I must bring a tent to listen to the insects, watch the sunrise, and see the sea of clouds!
