I went to Yangzhou with my mom during the Dragon Boat Festival, and it was such a delightful trip! It’s the perfect destination for anyone looking to unwind and take a break from work. Here’s the itinerary, make sure to like, save, and follow for more tips! 😊
Day 1: Exploring Yangzhou's Parks & Streets
Itinerary:
He Yuan (He Garden)
Erfen Mingyue Tower
Pishi Street
Ge Yuan (Ge Garden)
Dongguan Street
Caiyi Street
Siwang Pavilion
Wenchang Pavilion
Tips:
He Yuan and Ge Yuan have different styles, so if you're tight on time or not very interested in gardens, you can visit just one. I highly recommend only visiting one if it’s crowded because the parks get really full, making it difficult to take good photos.
Caiyi Street is lined with food stalls, but the environment is a bit less charming, and I personally found it just okay.
Siwang Pavilion and Wenchang Pavilion are popular for social media photos, but if you're not too obsessed with getting the perfect shot, you can skip them as they’re a bit of a walk from Dongguan Street.
Day 2: Nature and Scenic Beauty
Luyang Lake Wetland Park
For photography lovers, this park is a must-visit! It’s a bit far from the city, so it’s best to drive there. Check out my previous video notes for more detailed tips.
Slender West Lake
Itinerary Tips:
If you want to avoid retracing your steps: Enter via the East Gate, visit Shibi Liuchong, Zanhuating, Ershisiqiao, Xichuntai, He Dao South Side, Baita, Wuting Bridge, cross to the opposite side, and visit Xiaojinshan, Diaoyu Tai, Xu Yuan, and exit through the South Gate.
Our actual plan: The park is huge with four entrances. The North Gate has fewer attractions, while the South Gate has all the classic spots. Since it was summer, and we didn’t want to walk too much, especially with my mom, we mostly used the car and boat to explore the area.
We took an electric car at the East Gate (40 RMB per person) to tour the classic spots in the south in about 20 minutes, with an electronic guide. The last stop was Wuting Bridge.
After getting off, we took an electric boat (200 RMB for an hour, max 5 people). The boat was super easy to use and gave us a better view of the scenic spots! It’s definitely more cost-effective than using hand-rowed boats or larger ones. The boat ride was so relaxing!
Slender West Lake Hot Springs
We used the hot spring tickets that came with our room at Songcheng Resort Hotel. After walking around for half the day, it was the perfect way to relax. It was a great addition to the trip!
