The location is at the Daming Temple Lantern Festival in Yangzhou, where lanterns are released only on October 17 or 18 each year. It is a small event at Daming Temple, so the scenic area is not well prepared to accommodate many visitors.

The river lantern release spot is an internal pond within Daming Temple. At night, there are many mosquitoes and it is dangerous near the water, making it almost impossible to take good photos except for close-ups of the water lanterns.
