The Sea of Nando / Apostle / Memorial

Nando. Sado, the Sea of Remembrance

The sea is always silent.
Even as light spreads,
Even as clouds drift away,
The islands stand silently in their place,
Continuing their age-old prayers.

While the red and white lighthouses
Call each other's names,
The waves endlessly beat their hearts,
The wind caresses the mountainside,
Casting fog on the shoulders of the islands.

In the distance, silhouettes layer upon layer,
A small island suspended in the blue sky,
Even loneliness becomes a song,
Slowly crossing the horizon.

The rocky mountain stands against the sea,
Trees protect the island with their deep roots.
Amidst the sheer rocks and the crashing waves,
Silence stretches long.

At the edge of Sado's sandy beach,
Pine trees reach out to the sky,
An old boat
lies quietly, as if asleep.

A silent landscape,
But everything speaks.
Today, too, the sea
Embraces the islands
Embraces even my heart.
