Hidden Gems in Yichun, Jiangxi

For May Day, I wanted to visit some lesser-known, less crowded spots and chose Mingyue Mountain. Turns out, except for May 1st when everyone was still traveling, the following days were quite busy!

➡️ Mingyue Mountain
🚡 The cable car has two segments: Lower Station to Mid Station, and Mid Station to Upper Station (you can also go directly from Lower to Upper Station).
⚠️ From Lower to Mid Station, there are waterfalls of all sizes. The hike follows a scenic stream, but the stairs are steep! The path is long—about 3 hours. Mid to Upper Station has fewer views, but the walk is shorter (~1 km, ~40 mins).
⚠️ However! The cable car fare is 80 RMB from Lower to Upper Station, but 70 RMB just from Mid to Upper Station‼️ This pricing makes no sense‼️
⚠️ Management needs improvement. During May Day rain, everyone rushed for the cable car down, causing chaos. Initially, visitors queued orderly, but staff mismanagement turned it into a mess. Soaked, we waited 2 hours to descend.
⚠️ At the summit ⛰️, there’s the Qingyun Cliff Walk and a mountain train to Yangshimu (💰100 RMB). The walk alone is 3 km, and hiking from Lower to Upper Station takes time. If heading to Yangshimu, consider taking the cable car partway.
⬆️ Mingyue Mountain’s highlights are the waterfalls (Lower to Mid Station) and the Qingyun Cliff Walk (Upper Station). Crowds on holidays may make you question its value, but it’s perfect for a weekday workout! 👍

➡️ Yichun Hot Springs ♨️
After hiking, don’t miss soaking in the hot springs.

➡️ Wanzai Ancient Town
As shown in the pics, check the town’s official account for evening fireworks displays. Though not as grand as Liuyang’s 🧨, the ancient town backdrop adds charm.

🍽️
Fried Spicy Snacks‼️ So delicious 😋
Morning market noodles with meat and egg for single-digit RMB? Absolutely amazing!
