Hidden gem tourist spot near Nanchang—Jing'an Jiulingjian. With an elevation of 1794 meters, it is the highest peak in northwest Jiangxi and known as the mini Wugong Mountain. I finally conquered it!
Transportation routes:
There are mainly two routes; here I will focus on the first one, which is also the route we climbed.
📝 Route 1 (see Guide Map 1): Navigate to Jiulingjian Sports Tourism Resort Area, passing Jiuling Chaoguan Post Station, arrive at the scenic area entrance to buy tickets and park. Then walk along the road to Jiuling Star Resort Hotel, which is the starting point of this route.
➡️ Route conditions: Upon reaching Jiuling Star Resort Hotel, there is a grass skiing field nearby, which serves as a ski resort in winter. The cable car station is also near here for ascending. This hiking section is particularly steep 😰 and one of the more difficult parts. It takes about 30 minutes on foot (time varies depending on pace) to reach the cable car endpoint, marked with a ⭕ on the tour map. After that, the route’s elevation changes are minor, so elderly and children can enjoy the area without too much fatigue.
Continue to Jiuling Waterfall, where there is a sightseeing cable car connecting one mountain peak to another. If you don’t take the cable car, this section is also quite challenging, with a downhill followed by an uphill, taking about 1 hour to reach Jiulingjian (1794m).
The final section is from Jiulingjian continuing forward, all downhill, returning to Jiuling Star Resort Hotel, about 1 hour. This last part also features a forest slide attraction, 30 RMB per person, suitable for kids.
We took our time with breaks and completed the whole route in about 3 hours.
🎫 Tickets for this route cost 60 RMB; buying a next-day ticket in advance is 25.9 RMB, and the cable car up costs 55 RMB.
📝 Route 2 (see Route Map 2): A pure hiking route and free of charge. 🤓 Navigate to Jiuling Waterfall Boardwalk. The entire route is about 5 kilometers, passing three waterfall spots, round trip on the same path, taking about 4.5-5 hours, and can reach the foot of the windmill.
The uphill route consists entirely of cement steps plus gentle slopes. The route is well developed but still being improved. I plan to try this hiking route next time 😎
Little tips ✏️: The wind at the summit is very strong, and the fog is thick. For those preparing to go now, it is recommended to bring a thicker jacket. The summit scenery rivals Wugong Mountain, so we also call it the mini Wugong Mountain here. Personally, I think it’s worth climbing. The scenic area is still being continuously improved.
