Although Wenzhou and Yiwu both belong to Zhejiang Province, they are located in different regions (Wenzhou is in southern Zhejiang, while Yiwu is part of Jinhua City in central Zhejiang). Each place has its own unique scenic resources. Below is a classification and introduction of the main scenic areas in both locations:
1. Main Scenic Areas in Wenzhou
Wenzhou is famous for its mountains, waters, islands, and cultural landscapes, combining natural beauty with historical heritage.
Yandang Mountain (5A Level)
Features: One of China’s “Three Famous Mountains and Five Great Mountains,” known for its unique peaks, waterfalls, and ancient caves. It includes scenic spots such as Lingfeng, Lingyan, and Dalongqiu. Night views and the flying crossing performance are must-sees.
Recommended Attractions: Dalongqiu Waterfall, Fangdong Plank Road, Lingfeng Night View.
Nanxi River (4A Level)
Features: The birthplace of pastoral mountain-water poetry, offering bamboo rafting and visits to ancient villages.
Recommended Attractions: Lion Rock, Cangpo Ancient Village, Shiwaiyan, Longwantan Forest Park.
Jiangxin Islet (4A Level, Wenzhou City)
Features: A cultural island in the Ou River, home to the thousand-year-old Jiangxin Temple, East and West Twin Pagodas, and the former British Consulate.
Nanji Islands (National Nature Reserve)
Features: Clear blue sea, yellow sand, and a kingdom of shells and algae. Ideal for island camping and sunrise watching. The main island’s Dasha’ao Beach is stunning.
Baizhangji Waterfall (Wencheng County)
Features: A tiered three-level waterfall with a drop of 272 meters, majestic and cool in summer.
Dongtou Archipelago
Features: Wenzhou’s island area, featuring Xiandie Rock, Wanghailou, and the colorful fishing village (Oil Painting Village), perfect for photography and check-ins.
Taishun Covered Bridges
Features: Well-preserved wooden arch covered bridges from the Ming and Qing dynasties, such as Beijian Bridge and Xidong Bridge, surrounded by quiet and rustic ancient villages.
2. Main Scenic Areas in Yiwu
Yiwu is famous for commerce and trade, with relatively fewer natural landscapes, but still offers ecological and cultural attractions worth visiting.
Desheng Rock
Features: The highest peak in Yiwu (381 meters above sea level), offering panoramic views of the city. The summit has an ancient temple and unique rock formations.
Fotang Ancient Town
Features: Preserves the style of Ming and Qing dynasty old streets, with floating bridges and a brown sugar culture museum, blending commerce and history.
Yiwu International Trade City Shopping and Tourism Area (4A Level)
Features: The world’s largest small commodities market, where visitors can enjoy the fun of shopping, ideal for those interested in trade culture.
Huaxi Forest Park
Features: Over 90% forest coverage, with Longtan Waterfall and ancient trail hiking routes, suitable for short leisure trips.
Taohuawu (Chian Town)
Features: Thousands of acres of peach blossoms bloom in spring, perfect for outings and photography, with nearby farm stays.
Shuanglin Temple
Features: A thousand-year-old temple founded in the Southern Liang dynasty, with the Shuanglin Iron Pagoda inside, a nationally protected cultural relic.
3. Travel Recommendations
Wenzhou: Suitable for 3-5 days of in-depth travel, combining mountains, sea, and culture (e.g., Yandang Mountain + Nanxi River + Nanji Islands).
Yiwu: Recommended 1-2 days, focusing on commerce and shopping plus nearby natural attractions (e.g., Fotang Ancient Town + Desheng Rock).
If time permits, you can travel from Yiwu to Shuanglong Cave in Jinhua (about 1 hour by car), or from Wenzhou to Jinyun Xiandu in Lishui (about 2 hours by car), linking more beautiful sights in central Zhejiang.
