A hidden gem in Wuxi! Yao Lake Town is the perfect place for a family day out and photo shoot.

Hey guys 👋, I recently discovered a seriously underrated town in Jiangsu Province - Yao Lake Town in the Yangxian Ecotourism Resort in Yixing, Wuxi. It's the perfect place for a family day out and photo shoot. It's so much fun for the whole family that you won't want to leave 🥰!

📍 Address: Yao Lake Town in the Yangxian Ecotourism Resort in Yixing, Wuxi. It's easy to find.

🚗 Getting there: If you're coming from Nanjing, it's just a 1.5-hour drive. If you're taking the high-speed rail, get off at Yixing Station and take the shuttle bus directly to the town. It's super convenient 🚅.

🎯 Who it's for: Whether you're traveling with kids, family, or you're a photography enthusiast, this place has something for everyone!

After the Lunar New Year holiday, I decided to travel during the off-peak season. I was surprised to find that there were few people, beautiful scenery, and a festive atmosphere. Yao Lake Town was full of surprises. It has the gentle charm of a Jiangnan water town and the tranquility of a mountain town. You can take photos and have fun all day long. I almost ran out of storage space on my phone 📸.

🌟 Must-see attractions for families

Bamboo Rat Water Park: I highly recommend this indoor water park, which is open in winter! The sun shines into the pool, and the kids have a great time playing in the water. There are also clown shows and parades, which create a fun atmosphere. As a parent, I want to get an annual pass 🤩.

Cloud Train: The retro train travels through the bamboo forest. During the day, you can enjoy the fresh and natural scenery, and at night, it transforms into a cyberpunk style, full of technology. Even adults can't help but exclaim "so cool", and kids love it even more 🥳.

Dragon Water Show and Fireworks 🎆: This is only available on Fridays and Saturdays, and on the Lantern Festival! It was even featured on the Spring Festival Gala. The fireworks and water show on the lake, with the night view of the Jiangnan water town in the distance, are simply breathtaking. I have to say, Wuxi is so rich, Yixing is so wealthy, and Nanjing's cultural tourism industry needs to step up its game 🤣.

🌟 A must-see for culture lovers
4. Shehuo Square: A thousand-year-old kiln fire celebrates the glory of the past. The intangible cultural heritage performances here are truly refreshing, with young actors, trendy dances, and gorgeous costumes. Multiple intangible cultural heritage performances are connected together, accompanied by music, like a Chinese-style party in flames, igniting the audience's emotions 🔥.

🌟 A paradise for photographers
5. Hui-style architecture: The Hui-style buildings along the lake are staggered and picturesque. The design team has a great sense of aesthetics, with rowboats, lakeside boardwalks, Zisha Tower, and Mingling Street. Every photo is a masterpiece, and photography enthusiasts will never get enough 📷.
