Transportation Guide
- Self-driving: About 2.5 hours from Shanghai, Hangzhou, or Nanjing. Navigate to "Yaohu Town P1 Parking Lot." Parking fee is 5 RMB per 24 hours.
- High-speed rail: A 30-minute taxi ride from Yixing Station, or take bus No. 206 to the Visitor Center (operates 6:00-17:40). For night tours, it is recommended to book a ride-hailing service in advance or take the customized shuttle bus to nearby towns.
Cost Information
- Tickets: Adult ticket 60 RMB per person, discounted ticket 30 RMB per person, some groups are free.
- Mini Train: Original price 50 RMB per person, discounted price 30 RMB per person per trip.
- Accommodation: Yaohu Grand Hotel lake view rooms with breakfast start at about 600 RMB; Yunshu Homestay tea field view rooms around 300 RMB per night; Longchi Lanshanju Villa Homestay is suitable for family bookings, with higher prices.
- Dining: Wuse Yibang Restaurant averages about 80 RMB per person, Yaohu Market snacks range from 10-30 RMB, hotel restaurants average 150-300 RMB per person.

You can try black rice shumai, Artemisia cakes, braised pork with preserved vegetables and pig’s trotters, purple clay cake, as well as lamb noodles and sugarcane juice at places like Yaohu Market.
Scenic Environment
Yaohu Town boasts beautiful surroundings, backed by green mountains and facing the lake, surrounded by bamboo forests and tea fields. The town’s architecture features the classic Jiangnan style with white walls and black tiles, arranged harmoniously. The lake water is clear, egrets flutter gracefully, and the streets are full of lively local atmosphere, perfectly blending tradition and nature.
Fun Highlights
- Cloud Mini Train: The daytime version is a 50-minute loop through bamboo seas and tea gardens; the nighttime version features a cyberpunk-style carriage with a fireworks special train running at 8:00 PM during the water show, capturing the spectacular "train passing through fireworks" scene.
- Dragon Water & Fireworks Show: Water curtain projections depict the "Dragon’s Tail Swing," with lasers and fountains dancing to the melody of "Butterfly Lovers." Fireworks are added on Fridays and Saturdays. The best viewing spot is on the east side of Chunbo Chang Bridge.
- Intangible Cultural Heritage Experience: Daily bamboo rafting performances at 10:00, 11:00, and 17:00; kiln opening ceremonies in front of the dragon kiln every Saturday at 10:30; and purple clay pottery handcraft experiences at Fanli Pottery Workshop.

- Weekends from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM are peak hours; it is recommended to enter before 9:00 AM or after 4:00 PM for night tours.
- Bring non-slip shoes as the bluestone paths are slippery after rain; a tripod is needed for photographing fireworks.
- Please do not touch unbaked pottery in the dragon kiln area; no eating or drinking inside the Purple Clay Sanctuary.
