Never expected Yixing to be such an underrated gem for family trips! β€οΈ With summer vacation here, we wanted to avoid crowded tourist hotspots, so we chose Yixing - just 1.5 hours' drive from Nanjing π.
The scenery was breathtaking with green mountains β°οΈ, bamboo forests π², and winding streams perfect for creek trekking. Most attractions in Yixing are free - Su Dongpo wasn't lying when he praised this place!
β
Day 1:
Longyin Xishan β Dongpo Pavilion β Yangxian Xishan Town
βοΈ Stayed at Longyin Xishan Hotel (located within Xishan Town). July afternoons are scorching π₯, so we enjoyed the indoor pool π
βοΈ Cooler evenings π are perfect for climbing Dongpo Pavilion (hotel shuttle drops you at the base). The 10-minute hike π§ leads to Su Dongpo's statue πΏ. The illuminated pavilion at night is spectacular!
βοΈ Dined at the hotel restaurant π½οΈ (their original business was F&B, so many outside guests come too) π
βοΈ After dinner, stroll through Yangxian Xishan Town's night scenery π and enjoy the musical fountain β²οΈ - kids were thrilled! π
β
Day 2:
Longyin Xishan β Shaodong Village Creek Trekking β Return
βοΈ Woke up naturally, had lunch
βοΈ More pool time π in the afternoon
βοΈ Shaodong Village Creek Adventure:
β¨ Yixing has many creek spots. Fuxijian Bridge and Longshan Village are closest (hotel shuttle available)
β¨ We chose slightly farther Shaodong Village - less crowded with crystal-clear water. Bought local peaches π to enjoy while wading
β¨ Bring water guns, floaties π, nets and buckets. Secret tip: You can catch small fish/shrimp π¦ here - proof of the water's purity!
β¨ Forgot gear? Affordable sets available roadside (we got net+bucket πͺ£ for just Β₯15)
β οΈ Hot tip: On 8/16, the Jiangsu Super Cup (Wuxi vs Xuzhou) will be held in Yixing - Xuzhou residents get free access to paid attractions! π
Pro tip: Avoid full-day outdoor activities in summer heat π. This itinerary keeps kids cool - feel free to copy! π
