Thoughts on Yongzhou • Liuzi Temple
Yesterday in Yongzhou, I visited the Liuzi Temple and learned more about the life of Liu Zongyuan.
Liu Zongyuan was exiled to Yongzhou for ten years, during which time he was unable to realize his political ambitions and was filled with resentment. However, he found solace in nature and wrote a large number of poems and essays. Among them, "River Snow" and "Eight Records of Yongzhou" are the most famous, earning him the title of "the literary crown of the eight great writers."
This makes me wonder how people should view and face "failure" and "disappointment." If it were not for these ten years of being underutilized, perhaps Liu Zongyuan would not have left us with so many classic works...
Seeing temporary "disappointment" as a different kind of opportunity in life, I think this is a growth mindset, and it is worth experiencing and understanding.
