Exploring the secrets of Guangdong Province: The first Lingnan Neo-Confucianism village praised by CCTV - Shuidong Ancient Village

Shuidong Ancient Village, a shining pearl embedded in Yaogu Town, Yuncheng District, Yunfu City, Guangdong Province, is surrounded by mountains and rivers and has picturesque scenery. The ancestors of the Cheng family had a keen eye for talent and chose this "lotus land" surrounded by the emerging river and shaped like a lotus on the water to build the village. They inherited the northern ancestors' emphasis on the spiritual energy of mountains and rivers, and also incorporated the architectural concept of "no mountains and no water, no residence". The lotus, as a symbol of Neo-Confucianism, has endowed Shuidong Village with a profound cultural heritage.

Walking into Shuidong Village, you will see a complex of ancient buildings arranged in an orderly manner, blending the essence of Hui style and Cantonese architecture. The high walls and horse-head gables of the ancestral halls and residential houses demonstrate the typical features of Huizhou architecture; and the integration of Lingnan architecture with the environment makes this place full of Lingnan style. The two complement each other and form a unique architectural style.

This ancient treasure village, which is a combination of Guangdong and Anhui, not only has a long history and profound cultural heritage, but has also been highly recommended by CCTV's Discovery Journey Beautiful Home column, becoming a check-in destination in the hearts of many tourists.
